Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve Bush Camps and Lodges

Hlatikulu Bush Camp

Muntulu and Munyawaneni are situated in Hluhluwe Reserve, and Gqoyeni and Hlathikhulu are situated in Umfolozi. All of the locations have been carefully selected to offer total privacy, and fantastic views over the surrounding plains and hills, overlooking rivers and streams. Munyawaneni overlooks the Hluhluwe river; Muntulu has a stream running below it (look out for crocodiles on the rocks way below); Gqoyeni is set on a Peninsula where the Gqoyeni stream joins the Black Mfolozi river, and overlooks a large pool which almost never runs dry; Hlatikhulu is situated in a Tamboetie woodland area, and overlooks the Black Mfolozi River.

The fantastic thing about these lodges is that they overlook parts of the reserve where there is no road network so you see parts of the reserve that no one else has access to. Incredible sightings are often reported in the dense bush leading to the lodges, including the elusive leopard.

The lodges consist of a main central lounge, dining room, bar area and kitchen. There is also a barbeque / braai area. Wooden walkways from the main building lead to four en-suite bedrooms, each with their own individual balcony / viewing deck, and en-suite shower, toilet and basin.

The resident cook will prepare all meals, however, ensure that you bring your own ingredients (including oil / salt / spices etc). Please be considerate of the cooks working hours, and it would be a courtesy to discuss these on arrival. Please note, we recommend that if you intend any meals other than braai's or BBQ, you give detailed instructions on the recipe, or the result may not be as you intend. Cooked breakfasts are prepared expertly.

There is also a game guard in attendance, and you may arrange game walks with him at your convenience. These walks are highly recommended, as you will be in locations that no one else in cars or by foot has access to. The guards are armed, and are trained to give information on all aspects of the reserve, not just the obvious species.

Bush Camps - Umfolozi

Nselweni bush camp offers rustic but comfortable accommodation in the heart of Umfolozi where the sights, sounds and scents of the wild are in abundance. This camp is constructed out of poles and reed under thatch, and accommodates 8 guests each in four 2 bed units. Nselweni has an open plan lounge and fully equipped kitchen. The camp is serviced by communal ablutions.

Confirmed Reservations and Waitlists

Please note that confirmed reservations can only be given for the following bush camps as per time period stipulated in table below. All reservation made before, will be waitlisted.
